Manchester Fish Market Gets New Flooring & Drainage
Ultrasyntec was the chosen contractor to carry out the works for the new purpose-built, council-owned fish market, in Manchester.
The first task was to create falls in the floor, using Tarmac’s Cemscreed 5, fast cure screed. This was carried out in all individual rooms and corridors throughout the building at a grade of 2/100 mm
The first phase was complete in 10 days
All the falls then ran into, around 400 linear metre of 306 grade stainless steel drains, each with an individual “fat trap” for loose debris and fats.
The second phase was completed in just under 2 weeks.
The specification for all final floor coverings was 9 mm food safe, Polyurethane screed (blue) which was all trowel applied.
Phase 3 was complete in 3 weeks
The final phase was to prepare/prime and form coved skirting into a stainless steel “birds beak” trim @ 100 mm high
Phase 4 was complete in 1 week
The end result was a heavy-duty, food-safe environment with drainage, which will have a life time expectancy of around 25 years,
This gave the council not only a maintenance free solution but value for money.
