As the fire station was built in the 1970’s it was well due a full refurbishment to the main station hall.
The existing floor coverings were solid fire proof tiles, that were very uneven due to the 25 Tonne of fire truck’s running over it on a daily basis.
The weight load was so significant, their was only one product which could stand up to this volume of weight on a daily basis. HEAVY DUTY POLYURETHANE SCREED !
It took a total of 3 days to complete each bay, with a curing time of 48 Hours per bay, and with 6 bays in total, it took some careful planning prior to the work commencing.
The specification needed to be not only heavy duty, but have a surface that could be cleaned to a very high standard, so with this in mind,
we laid Polyurethane screed @ 10 mm thickness, to a lat, when the screed had fully cured we then roller applied a solvent free epoxy coating with a gloss finish, to ensure the fire men & women could keep up to the station commanders high level regime.
“What a transformation the floor has made, were all very pleased with the finish, and the way the guys operated”
Paul Duffield (Station Commander)
