Founded over a quarter of a century ago, UltraSyntec enjoys an established reputation for performance and a commitment to quality in the resin flooring industry. 

The company provides a nationwide service covering applications as diverse as food processing, sports stadia, and industrial and warehousing/logistics installations. 

With a focus on providing a sector-leading service, UltraSyntec creates flooring solutions that match individual applications and are designed to provide the longest possible service life.

Originally founded by Tom Hoyle, the business is now managed by his son, Will Hoyle, and Lee Sunderland, who took over in 2015. Today, UltraSyntec manages flooring projects of all sizes across the UK, with a significant percentage of work repeat business, underscoring the sustained quality of its work.

Meet the leadership team

Lee Sunderland Managing Director

Lee Sunderland – Contracts Director

Lee joined the Ultrasyntec team in 1997 after working at Resdev LTD as a lab technician. He was later approached by Tom Hoyle to come and join the team as a resin floor installer. Tom worked with Lee to develop his skills into a renowned installer within the industry.

After four years with the company, he was appointed a director of Ultrasyntec in 2000. Since becoming a director, Lee has developed strong management skills, helping Tom and Will grow the business to where it is today.

Today, Lee manages all projects, working with the team to ensure customers are getting outstanding installation quality, delivered on time and within budget.

Lee has three children. He has spent considerable time watching his son, Luke, play Rugby Union. His passion for clay pigeon shooting has led him to travel far and wide to various sites across the North. His other son, Charlie, has also developed a passion for the sport.


William Hoyle Managing Director

Will Hoyle – Sales Director

Will joined the Ultrasyntec team in 2004 upon leaving the British Armed Forces as a corporal with seven years of service.

The son of founder Tom Hoyle, Will had prior industry experience before his service. On his return, Will quickly built an extensive skill set both on-site and in management.

In 2007, he was appointed as a director of the company. Since then, he has taken the business from strength to strength, overseeing day-to-day operations, including sales, health and safety, and marketing.

Will has two children and spends his time watching his son play both Rugby League and Union and watching his daughter practice Karate. Will also spends lots of time hiking across the country, especially in the Yorkshire Dales.


Luke Sunderland

Luke Sunderland – Business Development and Operations Manager

Luke joined the Ultrasyntec team in 2022, focusing on Business Development and internal operations.

He spends his days coordinating business marketing, managing Ultrasyntec’s social media, and working with dedicated marketing consultants to develop new ideas and directions for the business.

Luke also identifies new business opportunities and helps the company grow overall, whilst speaking with customers and ensuring they are fully satisfied with the work carried out.

Luke is a graduate from Huddersfield New College, achieving A Levels in Business, History and Law and is currently a Business Management student at Liverpool John Moores’ University. He is currently undertaking a placement year at UltraSyntec, readying him to return post-graduation in 2027.

Luke has a history of playing Rugby locally and enjoys spending time watching both Rugby League and Rugby Union. He also loves taking long walks with friends and family in Snowdonia, The Yorkshire Dales and The Lake District with a few pints In between for good measure at the weekend.


Mark Whiting - Site Manager

Mark Whiting – Site Supervisor

Mark has worked in the Resin Flooring Industry since the early 1990s, starting at one of the largest resin suppliers, Resdev Ltd.

Mark began as a production operative and quickly progressed to lab technician. He enjoyed producing samples and became an installer in the early 2000s. Since 2014, he has been an integral part of the UltraSyntec team, employed as a resin flooring installer on a subcontractor basis. 

In 2025, Mark was appointed as a full-time site manager at UltraSyntec. Mark oversees a variety of sites alongside Lee, ensuring projects are delivered safely whilst maintaining outstanding quality and ensuring projects are delivered within agreed timescales.

Outside of the resin flooring, Mark enjoys spending time on Scottish and Yorkshire mountain bike trails with his wife Michelle and ending the day with a meal consisting of the spiciest food he can get his hands on.


Karen Ailie Office Manager

Karen Airlie – Office Manager

Karen joined the Ultrasyntec team in 2022 as Office Manager. Following a career at ASDA Head Office for 16 years Karen left to bring up her 2 young boys in 2012.  Between then and joining UltraSyntec Karen worked independently with local businesses across all industries and trades, managing and developing growth in finance, HR, H&S and operations. 

Karen graduated from the University of Huddersfield in 2000 with a 2:1 BA Hons degree in Business & Finance, giving her the specialist expertise to take on the varied role at UltraSyntec.

She has spent lots of time since joining the team ensuring the business operations are as streamlined as possible and refining them to ensure the business moves from strength to strength. Karen manages all UltraSyntec accounts and activities.

Karen has two children and enjoys watching her youngest son play Rugby at Elland Rugby League FC. Karen spends her spare time going to concerts and has an interest in country music.
